On Thursday we had our Links Afternoon and invited all our parents and friends to come and help make Christmas decorations.
Paint and glue and lots of glitter was all we needed to make fantastic baubles, bunting, robins and tree decorations to help make the school look festive.
Thank you to everyone who came along to support us.
Look out next week for our lovely tree in the hall and if you can, pop along to the chapel to see Hickling Infant School tree. Thanks to Mrs Mayhew and Amber for doing the decorating.

It was Children in Need Day on Friday an we did our bit by having a non uniform day and a bumper cake raffle thanks to Olivers mum and Berties mum. There were 7 prizes and if your ticket wasn't one of the lucky ones there was a delicious chocolate bear to munch on!
Look out in the newsletter for the total that we raised.

Well done everyone and thank you.
Our latest Federation Day was at Catfield on Thursday. The theme was Diwali and we all enjoyed trying some fantastic traditional Indian dancing with Lorraine .We  learnt some steps and hand movements and the "Big Namaste"

We also tried some great craft activities and met up with some old friends and made new ones.

Cookery Club started with the children using the sausages they had bought from the food fayre to make 'Toad in the Hole'.

The children learnt how to use a sharp knife safely and about food safety.

We cooked the 'Toad in the Hole', carrots and broccoli and finished the session by eating them.

We had to mix the ingredients for the batter to put around the sausages.

Grating the carrots before we chopped them up to cook.

Learning how to use a sharp knife safely.

Delicious home cooked 'Toad in the Hole', carrots and broccoli.

Mr Hartley from St Johns Ambulance came to school today to talk to us about being First Aiders.
He told us what to do if we ever found someone lying very still in the street or at home.

The number we must ring is 999 and ask for an ambulance.

We learnt about DRABC which stands for Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing, Circulation and the instructions we need to give an adult if they need to administer CPR

Check to see if the casualty responds to you, if there is no response check their breathing by looking at their tummy.

Give 30 compressions.

Give the casualty 2 rescue breaths

Mr Hartley told us to look on the St Johns Ambulance website,

sja.org.uk

He said there was lots of information and some games we could play.

He also told us to tell our Mums and Dads to download the free App onto their phones which gives lots of information about what to do in an emergency.

We had lots of shopping to do for the Cookery Club There were so many  interesting things to see It was very different from Tesco.  We bought vegetables, fish, meat and jam. We even got to taste some delicious scones. Everyone was really helpful answering our questions. When we got back to school we added up all the money that we had spent . It was a really tricky job!

Miss Hannant from Aspire Dance came in today. She is going to teach us a new dance over the next 6 weeks. We also learnt some new techniques and had a go at developing our own street dance moves.

Miss Hannant told us to pretend we were balancing her hot chocolate on our arms and keep a nice straight neck like we were wearing a crown and then kick our legs keeping them nice and atraight.

***Try to practice your run, jump, star jump this week at home to see if you can improve before next week.
